"Wheelin' Women" that's what we called ourselves. No I'm not talking about lady truckers, but about 12 women (11 bicyclists and 1 Supply and Gear van driver) who spent a week in motion on bicycles. We were participating in the 2nd Annual Florida All Women's Bicycle Ride. This group of women rode from south of Tallahassee (St Marks)to Punta Gorda.

After several Sunday's of training, 11 ladies from the area will head off to St. Mark's just south of Tallahassee to begin a bicycle tour of Florida's South Coast. The gals have been riding on Sundays and last Sunday they challenged their longest training ride by riding to Ft Myers for lunch at the Ford/Edison Museum. After lunch they returned logging just over 50 miles. Every one made the trip with no flat tires, and no problems other than some sore muscles. On April 19, the gals will load their bicycles and drive north to the trailhead of St Marks Trail. In 6 days and about 400 miles later they should pull into Punta Gorda. Any woman is eligible to go on the annual ride, you only need a road bicycle and the desire to spend a week with other women riding your bicycle. For more information call Karen at 258-3400
