As the name implies, this is a bicycle tour for those who prefer not to don spandex sports wear, ride a high-tech bicycle, or ride long distances fast. This tour June 7, which launches Charlotte County and Punta Gorda Bike Week, is for those who prefer to ride shorter distances at a more leisurely pace and "smell the roses" along the way. More...

Charli's Angels Golf Tournament nets $13,500 for CHAPS food pantry

Charli's Angels Golf Tournament Chair Wanda Jubb presented a check for $13,500.00 to Charlotte HIV/AIDS People Support (CHAPS) President Rev. Lori E. Rivera. The money was raised from the 10th year tournament, held at the Rotonda Golf and Country Club. More...

Dining With A Beat

Bob Marley (shown here) is honored with a restaurant at Universal Orlando. Jimmy Buffett has his Margaritaville Cafes and, of course, there are the world famous Hard Rock Cafes. Fats Domino, Trini Lopez, Gloria Estefan and Pat Boone have (or had) excursions into the restaurant biz. Music is the ambience and the food and libation... well, mostly touristy. Some musicians and singers have built enduring dining successes: Sammy Haggar (of Van Halen fame) owns the Cabo Wabo in Cabo San Lucas. Jim Croce's family legacy, besides his great songs, is the Croce Restaurant and Jazz Bar in San Diego. In this decade, others have gotten into the food and music game. Did you know that P Diddy, Moby, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Hootie and the Blowfish, even Britney Spears (if anyone really cares) have their own restaurants. So have you eaten at any of these places?
